The "barely there" canvas series explores the repetitive form and shape in discarded or "ghost" fishing gear. These barely seen waste products of industrial fishing are cast off in deep water and linger in our oceans. They have in some ways become a motif for my investigations into visualising the physical impact of plastic pollution and its geographical and biological impact on the planet.
This square 60 x 60 cm deep set canvas is the first in a series to fully explore a reduction in materials. Limiting myself to biodegradable, non toxic tools to create a pared down and minimalist aesthetic.
